Vail - A Magical Place Summer or Winter! 
Vail Mountain was founded by members of the 10th Mountain Division who were stationed at Camp Hale a short distance from Vail. This elite group of army infantry men fought in World War II, trained to fight in mountainous and arctic conditions. 
When the war was over, several members of the 10th Mountain Division had the vision to open a ski area at the base of the Gore Range. Vail Mountain opened in 1962.  Skiers immediately fell in love with the renowned Back Bowls and the endless trails. Vail's  Legendary Terrain offers the most discerning skier variety beyond compare with over 5317 acres of skiable terrain and over 300 inches of snowfall annually with some of the industry’s best grooming, the snow is always great at Vail.  
 Vail is not limited to skiing...
There is a saying most locals know by heart, “ we came for the skiing and stayed for the summers”!
The summers offer endless recreational opportunities including, golf, hiking, road cycling, mountain biking, fly fishing and white water rafting to name a few. The cultural activities include outdoor concerts from renown orchestra’s in residency to well known contemporary concerts and dance festivals at the Ford Amphitheatre.  There is live Jazz both in Vail and Lionshead villiages several nights a week as well as free music at outdoor venues throughout the Vail valley. The Vilar Performing Arts center in Beaver Creek also has a variety of entertainment. You’ll also enjoy farmers markets, the GoPro Mountain Games and a number of other sporting events.

The Vail market is much like the rest of the country right now, Fast and Furious!
People have been purchasing property here for decades due to the vast recreational opportunities, the natural beauty and the lifestyle, but even more so during and post pandemic (we hope).

Transacting real estate is different from state to state. In Colorado Real Estate Brokers are allowed to write offers for their clients using state approved forms. Colorado is also a Disclosure state which means that when you start working with a Broker (all real estate agents in Colorado have their Broker’s licenses) the Broker must inform you of the Working Relationships available to you whether you are a Buyer or Seller. The relationship is usually dictated by office policy of the firm the licensee holds his/her license with.
There are two types of relationships: Transaction Broker where the agent is a facilitator in the transaction and Agency where the Broker represents his/her clients best interests and acts as a fiduciary for the client.
There is no cost difference between the two as it is customary for the Seller to pay the commission and the Brokers split the commission depending on who they represent. So, why wouldn’t you choose to be represented?

After 29 years in the business, the best advice I can give my Buyers is, be prepared to write an offer as soon as something comes to market that matches your criteria. If you live out of town, be prepared to jump on a plane and get here within a day of a property coming to market as in some cases  Sellers won’t accept an offer from a Buyer who hasn’t seen the property.
